Fibro adenomas are non cancerous (benign) and harmless tumors which are made up of fibrous tissues of the breast. These are common in adolescent women. The incidence of Fibroadenoma reduces with increasing age.<\/p>\n

Signs and symptoms<\/h3>\n

  1. Fibro adenomas are smooth, round and easily movable swellings. It is referred as \u2018Breast Mouse\u2019 or \u2018floating tumor\u2019 as it easily sleeps away from fingers. Size of the tumor may vary from one to five centimeters.<\/li>\n
  2. It could be single or multiple. Generally it is painless and may affect both breasts.<\/li>\n
  3. Pain and tenderness (pain when touched) may be present especially before periods and subsides after periods. These cyclical changes are because of the hormonal changes. This is the reason why it is less common after menopause.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Causes of Fibro adenoma<\/h3>\n

    Exact cause of Fibro adenoma is unknown. It is because of the cyclical hormonal changes that take place in the body of women of child bearing age.<\/p>\n

    1. Sudden increase in size of tumor<\/li>\n
    2. Pain in breast not affected by menstrual cycle<\/li>\n
    3. Hard, immovable tumors<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Transformation of Fibro adenoma into cancerous tumor is very rare. Only 0.002-0.012% of the Fibro adenoma converts into cancerous growth.<\/p>\n

      Treatment\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

      Conventional treatment \u2013<\/h3>\n

      1. Fibro adenoma can subside on it\u2019s own.<\/li>\n
      2. Cryo ablation (use of extreme cold to destroy tissue) is safe and effective and less invasive method of treatment for Fibroadenoma.<\/li>\n
      3. Surgical removal may be required in case of large Fibroadenoma.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
